Corporate Improv Workshop: Team Training, Not Team Building

Most corporate improv is a fun afternoon that's forgotten by Monday. Ours is training. In a single session, your team sets the org chart aside, builds real trust, and leaves with five principles they can use in their next meeting.

What Happens in the Room

Instead of just fun and games, our programs follow an intentional scaffold to align with how people learn best. Engage, learn, apply and reflect.

ENGAGE

We start by saying the quiet part out loud: improv sounds gimmicky, a little cultish, and terrifying. Nobody is asked to perform or be funny. Then we separate improv, a stage art, from applied improv, which takes the skills underneath it and puts them to work on the problems your team actually has.

NO ICEBREAKERS

We don't believe in icebreakers and our least favorite sentence in the world is "tell us something interesting about yourself." Instead, we design specifically crafted energizers and connection activities to build psychological safety and create the conditions for learning to be possible.

LEARN AND APPLY

Your team experiences the power of "Yes, And" by doing it, not hearing about it. From there we teach the other four principles, and the team puts them to the test: small group challenges first, then volunteer-based participation. We finish by reflecting on how each principle shows up in your real work and what you'll do differently this week.

5 PRINCIPLES

  • Yes, And (Acceptance and Contribution)

  • Make Your Team Look Good

  • Make Offers & Accept Gifts (Generosity and Gratitude)

  • Reframe Mistakes as Opportunities

  • Bring A Brick... We'll Build the Cathedral Together

REFLECT

This is an essential step that many facilitators miss. Your team will devote time to reflecting on their experience and what they've learned. The reflection doesn't stop there, though. Participants then turn their reflection outward to identify how they can apply takeaways to their role and responsibilities.

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT REFLECTION IS HALF AN EXPERIENCE

This is where Unscripted Productions differentiates itself from the field. Founder Will Dennis, has extensive experience in education and facilitating reflection. Where most training programs walk out the door, leaving you dependent on their return, we take the time in the room so that you can own the work moving forward.

Why team training, not team building?

An escape room or a paint and sip is a good time, and it doesn't change how a team talks to each other on Tuesday. We build for sustainability and transfer: every concept is practiced, tied to real work, and followed up with resources that keep the learning going.

Truthfully, if you are part of any team, this is for you. We list the above examples as they tend to be those in a position to make a decision on behalf of a team. It doesn't matter if you are at a Fortune 500 or a mom and pop shop, everyone benefits from working better together

COMMON QUESTIONS

Does anyone need improv experience? No.

Will I be put on the spot? Participation starts in small groups and moves to volunteers only.

Does it work hybrid? Yes.

What does it cost? The Workshop starts at $3,500, and we scope the final number on a short call.

Your training was one of my favorites because there was no room to overthink how we respond to each other based on the org chart — or anything else. It was fun, fast-paced, and the fact that I can remember several very specific lessons this many months later tells me you know what you’re doing.
